By making use of the MCA Public Library resources you can find and print out articles from our extensive Microfilm collection, Local Histories, Coal Mining Histories, High School Year Book Collection. As well as search through our Obituary Index compiled by Robert Miller which includes obituaries and military information compiled from area Newspapers from 1860 to 1962.
Power Library
The POWER Library is a service of Pennsylvania’s public libraries, school libraries and the State Library. The POWER Library provides access to thousands of full text periodical articles, newspapers, a major encyclopedia, plus photographs, pictures, charts, maps, and reference materials for people of all ages.Mount Carmel Area Public Library provides access to online collections of books, articles, and encyclopedias through Power Library. Take a look at our lists of databases for kids or for student papers, or take a look at the whole subject list to see what will help you with your next assignment.

Research for obituaries and death notices in the area Newspapers is available for a fee of $15.00 for up to 5 names every 5 names. ($15.00 for 1-5 names; $30.00 for 6-10 and so on.) Please send your request giving us as much information as possible including possible name spellings, dates, and your return mailing address. We recommend you search the Library's Obituary Index 1860 to 1963. We will not begin any research until payment is received. Checks are to be made out to the Mount Carmel Area Public Library~ Please note "Genealogy" on the memo line of your check.

The Access Pennsylvania Database:
a project of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, was started in 1985 as a way to provide a union catalog across the State of Pennsylvania. It was the first and remains the largest statewide union catalog that include the holdings of the catalogs of public, academic and special libraries throughout Pennsylvania.
